Serving in our World

Opportunities to serve are not limited to our church and community. KOG supports many ministries and mission opportunities worldwide.

Project Day

Project Day volunteers make quilts that are distributed by Lutheran World Relief Mission Quilts as a tangible way to express love to our neighbors in need. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents, or floor coverings. Each one reflects God's loving presence in a world rife with suffering.

Volunteers gather in LL17 on the third Tuesday of each month from 9:30-2:00 to assemble quilts for LWR. Bring your lunch and join us for this worthwhile project and the fellowship. Sewing skills are helpful, but if you can measure, cut fabric, thread a needle, or tie a knot, we need you! For more information, contact Phyllis Beck at   or 214-554-1326.

Global Refuge

Global Refuge, formerly Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, is a nonprofit serving newcomers seeking safety, support, and a share in the American dream. Since 1939 Global Refuge has welcomed those seeking refuge, upholding a legacy of compassion and grace for people in crisis.

They walk alongside individuals, families, and children as they begin their new lives in the United States through refugee resettlement, welcome, and respite services for asylum seekers, economic empowerment and employment, and family unification for unaccompanied children. To date, Global Refuge has served over 750,000 people from around the globe.

Lutheran World Relief

Founded by Lutherans in the United States at the end of World War II, grounded in Lutheran theology, and building on decades of experience, Lutheran World Relief tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being.

LWR provides aid in emergencies to help families restore their lives, partners with communities to build and grow rural economies, breaks the cycle of poverty so families and communities can thrive, and helps people build self‐sufficiency.
