Love Thy Neighbor: Becoming Rebels with a Cause
Sunday, January 21, 2018, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Immediately after worship, we will meet in Fellowship Hall for lunch and a workshop on loving our neighbor in ways that challenge us to offer more than charity. Retired pastor, Jon Lee, will lead an informative and challenging discussion on how our Lutheran heritage calls us to work for justice. What does the Bible tell us? Can we consider Jesus to be an example of a rebel?
We will then explore the myriad of factors that impact a person’s life course (poverty, race, environment, etc.) through the interactive Life Course Game. The experiential game will encourage us to notice what factors move you ahead, make you healthier and more satisfied with your life experience, and which keep you behind and less satisfied.
Finally, we will focus on our Dallas reality. Josephine Lopez Paul, from Dallas Area Interfaith, will share stories, insights and opportunities to pursue justice in our local community.
You can order and prepay for your lunch or bring a sack lunch the day of the event. Please make lunch reservations by Wednesday, January 17.
Childcare is provided by reservation only. Parents should pack a sack lunch for their children.
